Pollsters Survey UK Residents on Online Gambling
December 15, 2007 |
The results of a recent poll indicate that an overwhelming minority of United Kingdom residents believe that the government is not doing enough to regulate casino online gambling.
According to a study by the consulting firm XTN Data, only one- fifth of UK residents say that their lawmakers have created strict enough rules for casino online gambling.
The study surveyed 1,000 web users on their feelings about casino online gambling. The researchers wanted to know what people think about the industry itself, and whether people partake in casino online gambling.
The survey’s results showed that nearly half of the respondents recognized the name of at least one casino online gambling site. Over a third said that casino online gambling sites were less likely to be trustworthy than they UK- based counterparts. Over fifty percent of those surveyed said that they do not know how to play most online casino gambling games, and that the sites they had visited failed to sufficiently explain the casino games.
Greg Harper, who founded the survey company, said that, “As online gambling becomes more mainstream gaming operators need to do everything they can to attract new users including teaching them basic strategies for games.”
