Internet and Gambling on Cover, Bodog Founder
December 13, 2007 |
Calvin Ayre, a premier name in the internet and gambling sphere, and the Founder and CEO of Bodog.com has landed on the cover of the reputable business magazine Forbes. In Forbes’ latest issue, the internet and gambling icon is featured as part of a “Billionaires” spread, focused on the ultra-rich businessmen and businesswomen, and other movers and shakers in industry today.
But Ayre’s cover story isn’t always positive, he believes. “I would disagree with some details (in the article), including the characterizations of the legality of the industry, but overall it’s a good yarn,” the CEO of the San Jose, Costa Rica based operation said. Nevertheless, Ayre believes that Forbes’ coverage of the internet and gambling industry is not only good for Bodog.com in particular, but also great for the industry as a whole. He continued, “Being open and transparent with the media sets a strong example for the online gaming industry, and serves as another tool to educate and inform our players about our company.”
Forbes sent journalist Matthew Miller to Ayre’s residence and office in Costa Rica, and Miller’s article was the first time that an internet and gambling CEO has been on the cover of the mainstream, world-read magazine. In the article, the billionaire talks about his secrets to success and the evolution of the internet and gambling industry as a major business player.
